New Project Scott Adkins
Scott Adkins has officially announced his next major action project. The action veteran is set to make his directorial debut with the new action-thriller Brawler, in which he also stars alongside Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat). The film is currently shooting in the United Kingdom and will later this year be presented to international distributors during the market at the Cannes Film Festival. In Brawler, Adkins plays a disgraced MMA champion who is pulled into a violent criminal underworld because of the sins of his past. Armed only with his fists, he must battle hitmen, gangs, and his own inner demons in order to protect the people he loves. Alongside Adkins and Tan, the cast also includes Larry Lamb and Emily Bennett. The screenplay was written by Matt Venne, best known for Dexter: Resurrection. The film is produced by Ben Jacques and Craig Baumgarten, both of whom have previously collaborated with Adkins on several action projects. According to multiple reports, longtime Adkins collaborator Tim Man will also be involved with the film’s fight choreography. Martial arts performers Lee Charles and Mark Strange are also part of the cast. In a statement, Adkins said that after more than twenty years working as an action actor, he felt ready to step behind the camera. He described Brawler as the perfect story to mark his first feature film as a director. With its mix of MMA action, crime drama, and intense fight sequences, Brawler is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Scott Adkins projects in recent years.
