X-men Origins: Wolverine, 2009
Adkins was cast for his exceptional physical ability — the role of Weapon XI required precise sword fighting, wire-
assisted stunts, and complex choreography, which Reynolds could not perform alongside his other scenes.
Despite his major involvement in the finale, Adkins is nearly unrecognizable on screen: his face is concealed
under heavy makeup and CGI, and his character has no lines due to the sewn-shut mouth design.
In interviews, Adkins admitted he was surprised by the character’s direction. “When I saw the concept art, with
the sewn-up mouth and sword claws... I thought, ‘This isn’t going to work.’” He and Reynolds never interacted on
set, and although Reynolds’ likeness was digitally superimposed in some shots, it was Adkins performing the full-
body action.
While the portrayal of Deadpool in this film received heavy criticism, Adkins delivered the physicality that the
finale demanded, contributing one of the most memorable — if controversial — moments in the X-Men
franchise.
While searching for answers, Logan discovers that Stryker is imprisoning young mutants on a secret island.
With the help of escaped mutant Remy LeBeau (“Gambit”), he infiltrates the facility. There, he learns that
Kayla is still alive and that her death was staged to manipulate him. Meanwhile, Stryker activates Weapon XI
— a monstrous mutant created from the powers of several others. Logan and Victor temporarily join forces to
defeat it.
During the escape, Stryker shoots Logan in the head with adamantium bullets, causing him to lose his
memory. Kayla dies shortly after, and Stryker is arrested. Logan is left behind, his past forgotten but his
instincts intact.

In 1845, young James Howlett discovers he is a mutant when bone claws emerge from his hands after
witnessing the murder of his father. In the aftermath, he flees with his half-brother Victor Creed. Thanks to
their regenerative abilities, they survive over a century of warfare, but begin to drift apart as Victor becomes
increasingly violent. During the Vietnam War, they are recruited by Colonel William Stryker to join an elite
mutant unit, Team X. After a brutal mission, James, disturbed by the team's cruelty, leaves the group.
Years later, James—now going by “Logan”—is living a quiet life with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox. When she is
murdered and Victor reappears, Logan agrees to undergo a procedure that bonds his skeleton with
adamantium, an unbreakable metal. After the operation, he learns that Stryker plans to erase his memory,
prompting him to escape.
Scott Adkins portrayed the physical version of Weapon XI — the final, mutated form of Wade Wilson — in X-Men
Origins: Wolverine. While Ryan Reynolds played Wade in the early scenes, it was Adkins who brought the silent,
enhanced version of the character to life during the film’s climactic action sequences. Weapon XI, also referred
to as "Deadpool" in the film, is a genetically engineered mutant combining multiple powers, including
teleportation, laser vision, and retractable katana-like blades.
