The Tournament is a 2009 action film in which the world’s deadliest assassins gather for an underground
competition held every seven years. Each participant is assigned a human target, and the last one standing
wins a substantial cash prize — along with the grim title of ultimate killer.
The concept is simple yet brutally effective: the contestants are randomly dropped into a city, tracked via
satellite by wealthy gamblers who place high-stakes bets on the outcome. What follows is a relentless series
of chases, shootouts, and savage fights, as killers battle not only each other but also the chaos around them.
Joshua Harlow (played by Robert Carlyle), an unsuspecting outsider, becomes an accidental participant after
witnessing one of the matches and is forced to compete. As he fights to survive, he begins to unravel the
dark truth behind the tournament and the organization pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, rival assassins such as Lai Lai Zhen (Kelly Hu) and Miles Slade (Ving Rhames) engage in intense
combat, using every weapon, tactic, and ounce of skill to eliminate the competition and come out on top.

Scott Adkins appears in a smaller role as Russian contestant Yuri Petrov. Though his screen time is limited, his
performance is signature Adkins: powerful, explosive, and commanding. With brutal efficiency and striking
speed, he reminds viewers why he belongs among the top modern action stars. His character is ruthless and
lethal — a silent predator in the tournament’s deadly arena.
The Tournament is a cult-worthy action thriller packed with adrenaline, creative violence, and a surprisingly
solid cast. The story delivers more depth than expected, exploring themes of survival, manipulation, and
revenge. Scott Adkins fans may wish he had more screen time, but his brief appearance leaves a strong
impression — intense, physical, and unmistakably Adkins.
