The Pink Panther, 2006

In The Pink Panther (2006), directed by Shawn Levy, Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) is assigned to a case involving the murder of a famous French soccer coach, Yves Gluant, during a match between France and China. At the same time, the priceless Pink Panther diamond, which the coach was wearing, goes missing. To distract the public and the media, Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Kevin Kline) announces that Clouseau is leading the investigation, while another team secretly works to uncover the real clues. Clouseau is accompanied by Officer Gilbert Ponton (Jean Reno), who has been tasked with keeping an eye on him for Dreyfus. Together, they stumble through a series of chaotic and comedic situations during the investigation, which eventually leads them to pop star Xania (played by Beyoncé Knowles), the girlfriend of the murdered coach. The film is both a remake and a tribute to the original Pink Panther films from the 1960s and 70s, in which Peter Sellers famously portrayed Inspector Clouseau. Steve Martin co-wrote the screenplay and offers his own interpretation of the character, emphasizing physical comedy and slapstick.
