Stag Night is a 2008 American horror film directed by Peter A. Dowling. The story takes place in the subway tunnels beneath New York City and follows a group of people who, after exiting a train, are hunted by masked men living underground. Scott Adkins plays the role of Carl, one of four men out celebrating the bachelor party of Mike (Kip Pardue). The group also includes Mike’s brother Tony (Breckin Meyer) and their friend Joe (Karl Geary). After Tony gets into a fight at a strip club, the group is thrown out and decides to take the subway to continue the night elsewhere. On the train, they encounter two women: stripper Michelle (Sarah Barrand) and her friend Brita (Vinessa Shaw).
Unlike in most of his later work—where Scott Adkins is known for dominating action scenes and defeating his opponents—here, in the earlier stages of his career, he plays a secondary character who is eliminated early in the film and does not engage in any fight choreography. The film includes elements of horror, survival, and pursuit. The masked antagonists do not speak in full language but communicate with primitive grunts. Carl is among their first targets.
When Tony makes an unwanted advance on Brita and she defends herself with pepper spray, the group exits the train when it stops at a station. The train leaves without them. The station turns out to be abandoned and no longer in use. Mike, Tony, Joe, and Brita choose to walk through the tunnel toward the next station, while Carl and Michelle stay behind. At this point, Carl is involved in a romantic scene with Michelle. During this moment, he is suddenly attacked from behind. Staying true to his physical screen presence, Carl immediately gives chase. However, he soon becomes one of the first fatal victims of the masked tunnel dwellers. His character is killed off around the 25-minute mark.
