Scott Adkins World 2017 - 2025
Ninja is an entertaining and energetic martial arts film starring Scott Adkins as Casey, a Westerner who trains in the art of Ninjutsu in Japan. When his sensei calls him back to New York to protect the Yoroi Bitsu – a legendary armored chest containing the weapons of the last Koga ninja – an exciting battle full of action, ninja traditions, and impressive fight scenes begins. The Yoroi Bitsu is the ultimate ninja heritage, and Masazuka, the evil antagonist, has set his sights on this chest. With the help of a mysterious cult called “The Ring,” he spares no effort to get his hands on it. Casey must use all his skills to keep this treasure safe and take down his enemies one by one.
The choreography is tight and easy to follow, and despite the somewhat lower budget, the whole production feels professional, thanks in part to director Isaac Florentine, who is known for his sharp martial arts direction. The film’s focus is fully on the action, which guarantees plenty of viewing pleasure. All in all, Ninja delivers exactly what you expect: spectacular action, a hefty dose of energy, and a nice nod to classic ninja movies. For an evening full of kicks, flips, and impressive fight scenes, this movie is definitely a solid choice.
The film exudes a delightful old-school ninja vibe, with traditional dojo scenes, rivalries, and, of course, plenty of martial arts. Scott Adkins plays his role convincingly and is clearly in top form: he kicks, punches, and throws himself into battle with great energy. Naturally, he also wields his sword, not hesitating to chop off a head or two, just like a true ninja film demands. The movie is packed with spectacular scenes, such as the train fight where Adkins forcefully throws his opponent through a window just as another train rushes past. Adkins really shows he’s in great shape in this film.
