Scott Adkins World 2017 - 2025
The Trailer:
Abduction might be one of Scott Adkins’ most unusual films in terms of storyline. In this fantasy science-fiction film, Scott plays a man who emerges from a fountain in a park in Ho Chi Minh City and has no idea who he is. He is quite disoriented and wanders through the city trying to piece together his past. Meanwhile, he is pursued by mysterious figures. You will see a different side of Scott Adkins, stuttering and smacking himself to get the words out.On the other hand, we also see Adkins as we know him, as there are still plenty of moments where he beats the crap out of people.
The bizarre plot might be the reason why Abduction is so entertaining. The fact that Abduction doesn’t take itself too seriously may well be the film’s greatest strength. After being ejected from the aliens' base in the opening scene and finding himself in a fountain in the middle of Ho Chi Minh City, Adkins realizes he has no memory and is left with a stutter. Adkins' search for the kidnapper of his daughter and what is going on leads him to allies: Connor (Andy On, Blackhat), an assassin. Andy On, plays a poker-faced former military man turned assassin in the service of a local Chinese crime lord. After a final job to send a message to a rival gang trying to encroach on the Chinese territory, he wakes up one morning to find his wife missing and was kinapped by the same forces.Together, they seek the truth behind Adkins’ confused memories and their superhuman enemies.Abduction gives both Adkins and On several opportunities to showcase their skills. The fight choreography is handled by Tim Man, who has collaborated multiple times with Adkins both as a choreographer and occasionally as a co-star. The highlight of the fight scenes is a battle between Adkins and On, which results from Adkins being taken over by the aliens and effectively becoming a kung-fu terminator, thus pitting him against Andy On…
